Explore The Skilled Trades
Are you curious about what a career in the skilled trades or technology could look like? Come see for yourself.
We're organizing a free trip to the Skills Ontario Competition on Tuesday, May 5 at the Toronto Congress Centre. This is Ontario's largest skilled trades competition — and it's open to the public for viewing from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
You'll get to watch secondary and post-secondary students compete in real time across dozens of trade and technology areas — from construction and transportation to health care, hospitality, IT, and more. Many of these connect directly to the programs we offer right here at STA, including Construction Technology, Computer Technology, Communications Technology, Hairstyling & Aesthetics, Health Care, Hospitality & Tourism, and Transportation Technology.
Beyond the competitions, the Career Exploration Showcase features hands-on activities at exhibitor booths where you can try skilled trade and technology activities, talk to industry and education representatives, and learn about career pathways — including apprenticeships, college programs, and more.
Whether you're already enrolled in a tech course, thinking about a Specialist High Skills Major, or just wondering what your options are after high school, this trip is for you.
